Who We Are
Our History
Soraya Love was born in a place known to be the worst place in the world to be a woman (Kabul, Afghanistan). She learned how to navigate herself through seemingly hopeless situations in efforts of experiencing both her freedom and the purpose she was born to live. In 1979, during the Russian invasion, Soraya and her family escaped Afghanistan through a luggage compartment of a bus and lived in refugee camps in Pakistan until she arrived to America in 1984. Her passion and determination for all people to experience freedom led her to establish an organization called Powered Through Love where she currently serves as an executive director.
True freedom is the absence of oppression within the boundaries of our own minds and hearts. It’s only then that one can truly experience what justice, freedom, equality, love, family and community is all about.

Powered Through Love exists to provide the fundamental needs of our human rights to love and be loved; to reveal that love is the greatest power known to mankind to overcome every impossibility we each face in the parameters of our boundaries.
